Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how TeachEnglishOnline.org ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information about visitors to our website. We try to keep this short and honest.

1. Who we are

TeachEnglishOnline.org is an independent educational resource site providing free guides, tutorials and comparisons for online English teachers. We are not a teaching platform, recruiter or certification provider. We earn revenue through display advertising and may receive affiliate commissions on some recommended products.

2. Information we collect

We collect two categories of information:

Information you give us

  • Contact form submissions: name, email and the message you send.
  • Newsletter signups: email address only.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data via Google Analytics: pages visited, time on page, referrer, approximate location (city/country), device type and browser.
  • Cookies and similar technologies set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense for analytics and ad personalisation.

3. How we use it

  • To understand which content is useful and improve the site.
  • To reply to your messages.
  • To deliver more relevant ads via Google AdSense.
  • To detect abuse or security threats.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-party services we use

Our site relies on services that may collect data about you:

  • Google Analytics — site analytics. Privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — display advertising. Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to our site and other sites. You may opt out at Google Ads Settings.
  • Google Fonts & CDN-hosted fonts and icons — fonts and icons may be served from Google and Cloudflare; these providers may log your IP for service delivery.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We use them for:

  • Analytics (Google Analytics): understanding aggregate usage.
  • Advertising (Google AdSense): showing ads relevant to you.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to function, but ads will be less relevant.

6. Your rights

Depending on your country, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion.
  • Object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

For users in California (CCPA), you also have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].

7. Data retention

Contact form messages: kept for up to 2 years, then deleted. Analytics data: retained according to Google's default settings (currently 14 months). Newsletter subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe.

8. Children

Our content is written for adults considering or working in online English teaching. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy
